Hortense Bioy

Director of Passive Fund Research, Europe


Hortense Bioy, CFA, is Director of Passive Fund Research within the Morningstar Manager Research team in Europe. Based in London, Hortense leads a team that provides independent research on ETFs and index funds domiciled in Europe. Since 2017, her responsibilities have expanded to include Sustainable Fund Research in the UK.

Hortense joined Morningstar as an equity ETF analyst in 2010 from Bloomberg where she was a financial journalist. She began her career as an M&A analyst at Société Générale in Hong Kong.

Morningstar passive research, under Hortense, won the category of "Best Thought Leadership Paper" at the Investment Week Fund Services Awards 2015, "Best ETF Research" at the Investment Week Investment Research Awards 2017, and "Best ETF Research Provider" at the etfexpress Awards 2017.

Hortense holds a Master's Degree in Finance from Paris Sorbonne University and is a CFA Charterholder.

James de Bunsen

James de Bunsen is a Portfolio Manager on Janus Henderson Investors' UK-based Multi-Asset Team, a position he has held since joining Henderson in 2013. In this role, James focuses on alternative asset classes and strategies. Prior to Henderson, he worked for multi-asset boutique Armstrong Investment Managers (AIM) from 2010, where he helped run a number of multi-asset strategies targeting real returns above inflation within clearly defined risk budgets.

Prior to joining AIM, James spent five years at Insight Investment as part of the same multi-asset team that launched the first retail multi-asset fund in the UK, and later formed AIM. At both Insight and AIM, this same team won several performance awards from FT Pension & Investment, HFM Europe, and BarclayHedge among others. Prior to Insight, he spent several years working as a journalist and editor at a variety of business magazines. James graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in ancient history and archaeology. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 13 years of financial industry experience.

Ian Crispo

Ian joined the Company in 2005 with seven years of industry experience. Prior to his current role, Ian has held a variety of positions within the Alternative Investment and Hedge Fund Divisions including Hedge Fund Analyst, Hedge Fund Product Specialist and Alternatives Product Manager. Prior to joining the Bank, he served as a Management Consultant at both Sherwood Alliance and Arthur D. Little. Ian has an MSc in Finance and Business from ESSEC Business School.

Jonathan Francis

Jonathan is a Senior Research Analyst at EFG Asset Management. As part of the global multi-asset research team he is primarily responsible for fund manager research, selection and communication across various asset classes as well as advising on portfolio construction for multi-asset portfolios. Prior to joining EFG AM in 2012, Jonathan was an Analyst in the Investment Consultancy practice at Towers Watson, researching long only equity and hedge fund strategies since 2008. Jonathan holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics & Politics from the University of Exeter UK and is CFA Charterholder.

Clive Hale

Clive is a former CIO of Skandia Investment Management and Investment Manager and Consultant at Towry (now Tilney BestInvest) and John Scott & Partners. He has over 35 years' experience of fund research, asset allocation and portfolio management.

He is a director of Albemarle Street Partners. He is also a well-known investment commentator and author of the View from the Bridge blog. He is the chairman of Albemarle's investment committee as well as an external member of Distribution Technology's investment committee. Clive is a Chartered Accountant (FCA), a Chartered Financial Technician (CFTe) and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification.

Dan Kemp

Dan Kemp is Chief Investment Officer for Morningstar's Investment Management group for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Dan leads Morningstar's 20-strong investment management team for the EMEA region, working with advisers and institutions to help them deliver world-class investment solutions to investors.

Dan joined Morningstar in 2014 as co-Head of Investment Consulting and Portfolio Management in the EMEA region. He previously served with Albemarle Street Partners, an investment consultancy partnership that he co-founded. Prior to Albemarle, he worked for Saltus Partners, managing the firm's flagship Saltus Multi Asset Class Fund. He has also worked as fund manager and head of fund research for Williams de Broë (formerly Christows).

Dan has 19 years' experience in research, investment management and investment consulting. He has managed a wide variety of portfolios, specialising in multi-asset risk graded products. He is also a well-known commentator on investment issues.

She is responsible for the weekly magazine and website Prior to this, she was editor of sister Incisive titles and Professional Adviser magazine (now combined into Katrina started her journalism career at fundstrategy magazine.

Jake Moeller

Jake joined Thomson Reuters in 2013 as Head of Lipper UK & Ireland Research. Since 1998, he has specialised in mutual fund research & selection, fund-of-funds portfolio management and asset allocation strategies. He spent six years as a fund-of-funds manager and fund selector at AIG and has been a mutual fund research specialist for Lloyds Banking Group, Towry and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Jake is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (CISI) and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).

Justin Onuekwusi

Justin is a fund manager within the Multi-Asset Funds team, leading on the management of the team's retail and risk-profiled multi-asset funds. Prior to joining LGIM in August 2013, Justin was a fund manager with Aviva Investors' multi-asset team combining both strategic and dynamic asset allocation with manager selection in the construction of multi-asset portfolios. He was lead fund manager on a range of risk-targeting multi-asset funds and co-lead fund manager on a number of unit-linked Life and Pension funds, as well as manager of manager offerings. Justin previously worked as a fund research analyst at Merrill Lynch and an investment consultant for Aon Consulting. Justin is a CFA charterholder and holds a degree in economics from the University of Warwick and the Investment Management Certificate.

Elizabeth Savage

Elizabeth Savage is Head of Research at Rathbones. She is responsible for leading the firm's research and investment process across the areas of equities, fixed income, asset allocation, collectives, risk and stewardship. She also sits on Rathbones' Investment Executive Committee.

Elizabeth joined Rathbones in 2005 having previously worked as a hedge fund analyst at Progressive Alternative Investments. Elizabeth graduated from Newcastle University and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.


Peter Sleep

Peter is a Senior Portfolio Manager at 7IM where he has worked for 11 years, where he helped launch the AAP funds and 7IM's MPS offering. Prior to 7IM Peter worked at Citigroup for 14 years in various investment management roles. Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co, Manchester.

Nathan Sweeney

Nathan co-manages the Architas Multi-Asset Active Fund range and the Architas Multi-Manager UK Equity Fund. Nathan's analyst responsibilities consist of research into US macroeconomics and US equity funds.

Nathan began his 18-year investment career at AIB Investment Managers, where he was responsible for launching and managing the AIB Multi-Manager Funds. Nathan joined Architas in 2010 and has significant experience of asset allocation, portfolio management and fund selection. Nathan has a BSc in Science, a Diploma in Financial Services and is IMC qualified.
